sbs/girl's world: agnes tunic dress

It has been one of those weeks! Sick kids, doctor's appointments and a sippy-cup malfunction right on mommy's iPad! So needless to say, I was not really in the most zen-like mood when I got started on the Agnes Tunic Dress this week. I skipped ahead in the book one project, but don't worry I already have the fabric ready for the Josie Dress.  Our weather has been in the low-seventies lately I feel like Sophie needs something to wear right now, instead of a dress that would have to wait for warmer weather.
The Agnes Tunic Dress from Girl's World was a more challenging project for me than the first two dresses in the book. Nothing too difficult, just more pinning and patience needed(and as I mentioned before patience was in short supply for me this week!)  I really love the fabric I had for this tunic, it is June Song by Alexander Henry.
I made a few adjustments to the pattern to suit my daughter a little better. I shortened the length by about two inches in the main part of the dress and shortened the trim by about one inch. I wanted it to be more tunic and less dress. Be aware that the tunic is very roomy, so I would go for a size down if you are are choosing between sizes.
The back of the tunic is closed with a button and loop. I am a big fan of the no-buttonhole trend in this book! I decides to attach the polka-dot on the sleeve bands in a different way than described in the book. The way the instructions tell you to attach the sleeve bands works well, but you need up with seams that on the inside around the bands that you have to finish.
It's kind of silly but I didn't want to finish those seams because:  a) they are inside the sleeve and kind of a bugger to work with and b) right now my serger has red thread in it right now and I didn't want to hassle with rethreading it to white. So if you are curious about how I attached my cuff...check out my very first tutorial! (coming soon, like a day or so)

I am so excited about this month's giveaway! A signed copy of Girl's Word by Jennifer Paganelli and some great Sis Boom fabric will be sent to one lucky reader. The giveaway will close 2/29.
I have been enjoying reading all of your comments so much! Thanks for being a bright spot during my rough week!
