Monday and most of my sewing time today I worked on the Sandpiper Capri and Top pattern from Clever Charlotte. My sweet mom bought me this pattern and all of the fabric when she stopped by Birch (fabricworm) in Paso Robles a few months ago. I have been waiting for the weather to heat up so that Sophie wouldn't grow out of it before she had a chance to wear it.
The entire outfit is reversible which is always fun. I think tracing and cutting the pattern took more time than anything else. The instructions were very well written and easy to follow. I took Sophie's measurements at the beginning of the week so that I would be able to sew even if she was asleep or playing outside. For some reason I usually skip this step and just guesstimate which size would be best for her.
I'm so glad I checked her measurements with those on the pattern! I ended up making this outfit in a 2T for the top and bottom. On the top I added a little length to the 2T and next go round I might add even more.
The pants fit well, any larger would have swallowed her up. The pants have an unusual construction, no side seams and several ties. Sophie calls them her "silly" pants and then does a crazy dance. I think they are pretty darn adorable!
My mom picked out some really great fabric! The fabric for the top is Sandi Henderson, Meadowsweet and I'm not sure about the capri pants fabric but I really love the feel of the linen-y tan fabric.
I am having so much fun seeing what everyone is making for KCWC. I hope you are having a good/productive week!
